The BSF conducts the ceremony in coordination with the Pakistan Rangers and it involves lowering of the flags of the two countries along with foot stomping manoeuvres of the troops with patriotic songs playing in the background.

The Centre has decided to celebrate the International Yoga Day at 75 iconic locations across the country as the country celebrates 75 years of independence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the IDY celebrations from the Mysuru Palace in Karnataka. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be in Coimbatore and Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Trimbakeshwar temple at Nasik in Maharashtra. As many as 19 'asanas' (exercises) will be exhibited in 45 minutes during the event.

This year, the theme is "Yoga for Humanity". The theme portrays how yoga served humanity in alleviating suffering during the Covid pandemic, the PMO said in a statement.

This year, the major attraction of the IDY celebrations will be the "Guardian Ring", whereby the events organised across the world on the occasion will be relayed throughout the day.
